to the WorkCover OH&S Construction Industry Induction Course.

The new course becomes a nationally recognised 'Unit of Competency' called

WORK SAFELY IN THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY (CPCCOHS1001A)

From 1st September OHS training can no longer be carried out by individual trainers or companies unless they are a Nationally Accredited Registered Training Organisation (RTO) approved to train this course. Skillvance Associates has been an RTO (No.91066) since 2004 with all of our very capable and experienced trainers registered with both WorkCover and VETAB to run this new course.

The course will run for minimum of 6 hours (instead of 5 hours). With the increase in administration, we will be asking participants to arrive 1/4 hour early and there will be a 1/2 hour meal break (not supplied) with continuous tea and coffee supplied. So the course will now take nearly a full day (7 hours)

From 1st September, a national card will be issued which will, by the end of the year, be recognised by all states and territories. Presently most states recognise each other's cards.

 People who possess existing valid WorkCover Cards

(called 'green' but coloured white with the WorkCover logo)

DO NOT NEED TO REPLACE THEIR CARDS

Strict identification (ID) requirements are in place and people without the correct or adequate ID cannot be trained.

Participant numbers for each course are also limited, so bookings are essential.

An interpreter must accompany anyone without a good understanding of spoken English as the course and assessment will be in English. Assistance will be given to those with literacy problems, and special needs must be advised before the course.

Following successful completion of the course, participants will receive a WorkCover 'Statement of Training', which allows them to work until WorkCover post their new national card to them. A Skillvance 'Statement of Attainment' will be posted out after the course with the receipted Tax Invoice.

We conduct individual company courses by arrangement as well as Public Course each week at various times and places :

Penrith - Tuesday (8am)                    Hornsby - Wednesday (8am)                       

 Narellan - Wednesday (8am)          Richmond - Monday (1pm)                 

Blacktown & Penshurst - Thursday (2.30pm) and Saturday (9am)
