OHS CONSULTATION COURSE - Remainder of 2011

***CHANGES AHEAD***

New National Legislation to be introduced on 1st January 2012 will change the process of OHS consultation for all workplaces in NSW. Consultation will still be an important consideration in every workplace however changes will be implemented to harmonise with other states and territories. The idea of safety committees is still a possibility under the new Work Health and Safety Act but will not be included as part of the legislation.  The legislation will refer to a new entity to be known as a Health and Safety Representative (HSR). HSR’s will require specific training to fulfill the requirements of their new role.   Briefings have commenced to communicate the new arrangements to industry. Final information will be released when the legislation is introduced. For assistance in relation to OHS Consultation and the changes ahead please contact us.  Following briefings from WorkCover,  it is anticipated that a 5 day course will be introduced after 2011, but at this stage nothing is definite.
